Case Study: Task Management App for Children
Checkd is a task management app for children, designed to help them complete their daily tasks with minimum assistance from their parents.
Its simple navigation and function to set rewards to help children manage and feel confident in accomplishing their tasks.
Problem
Some children need reminders of what has to get accomplished daily, and some have overwhelmingly busy schedules.
Goal
Design a product that helps children manage and feel confident in accomplishing their tasks.
Paper Wireframe
To ensure that the elements that made it to digital wireframes would be well-suited to address users’ pain points, I started with paper wireframes to come up with various options quickly. For each screen, I made sure to include enough illustrated icons to help younger children who cannot read well yet.
Digital wireframe
As the initial design phase continued, I made sure to base the screen design on feedback and findings from the user research.
High-fidelity prototype
The final high-fidelity prototype presented clearer navigation. It also met the user’s need to accommodate different reading levels of children and used a combination of text and illustration.
